So i was driving on 287 in North Jersey when my tires started making a humming noise. It kept getting louder and I thought it was coming from the passenger front tire. Pulled over and checked some things out, and it all seemed ok. Then a two hour drive home later, the noise kept getting louder..... This morning i go to swap wheels and notice the axle nut on the drivers side front had backed off to the last few threads.......

.....Good thing i noticed that, haha......moral of the story, dont cheap out and reuse the axle nut when taking things apart. I hadnt even considered that since it hadnt been apart in over a year.......luckily the bearing seems fine, but it was a pretty close call.....probably anymore driving and you would all be reading an obituary right now.....

I've always reused my axle nut... just make sure they are in good shape and torque em right... hmm...
Glad everything turned out ok though...

Nope... not in the front. Maybe you're thinking of the rears or maybe an air-cooled type front.
As far as torque on the front axle nut, I thought the spec was nearer to ~150 ft/lbs. Maybe I'm wrong. They normally give you a new "nylock" type nut with a CV kit, but like you guys, I have had no issues reusing my old ones.
