Re: Almost done the the new turbo motor for the rabbit.... (stevelangford)
quote:

you are lucky with the xflow, in my 8v xflow my turbo is right underneat the intake and there is very little room. looking great! what are you doing with that dual turbo outlet?

I was origionally going to use an 8v solid lifter head, but chose the crossflow for its better flow characteristics and intake location. The dual outlet manifold flows into an adapter to the T3 flange... oh boy.
quote:

How much did this cost?

Like most MkI guys, I'm about as cheap as they come. Heres a basic breakdown of the cash involved:
trashed crossflow - $100
rebuild supplies - $200?
adj. cam gear - $50
dual outlet manifold - $20 (junkyard)
misc. steel for welding - $5 (recycling place)
big T3 - $25 (junkyard)
turbo rebuild - $150
intercooler - $30
audi 5000 WUR - $50
Saab APC system - $50
misc. other crap - ?
As of now I've got a little more than $600 into the whole setup... and I have pretty much all I need (I think). I've got a guy who is gonna weld up my intake for me, shouldn't be more than $100 or so.
quote:

Looks good. Just a little worried about the injectors. The airshrouded bushings have holes in them for air/vacuum to help the flow, right? If they are at atmosphere, will that mess up the flow at all? I'd be tempted to weld up some sort of thing to screw that bushing into and connect a vacuum line to it so the injectors behave like if they were in a normal airshrouded head.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I'm definately no CIS expert

Correct me if I'm wrong, on the air shrouded heads there is a passage for air to get the the injectors. Pretty sure its just regular atmospheric air, to help cool the injectors down.
Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming!
