Finally registered after checking the site for some time now. I have had my second MK2 for almost a year now, and I know it needs some attention, but I don't have the time or equipment to do much work on it myself. I would like to save money (like everyone else) and do as much of it as I can. Lately my jetta has been vibrating alot under heavy acceleration, but only at 3000-3500 RPM, after which it smooths out a bit. I can tell that some of it is just interior trim and dash vibration but I'm concerned that it may be something else, any thoughts?
I have all new exhaust hangers, decent tires, and decent struts

Re: new member-couple quick ?'s (GLIeugeneOR)

the vibrating isn't in the steering, at least it doesn't feel like it. It still handles pretty good. The tires aren't wearing unevenly either. Mostly the whole body seems to rattle. It doesn't do it as much when I put it in nuetral and coast, I can even rev it in nuetral and it doesn't vibrate as harshly.
thanks for replying

Yep. Engine/tranny mounts. 2800-3400 is the typical 4cyl resonance vibration zone; anything broken/loose/etc will rattle or vibrate at about that speed. Do you notice if its worse at any given RPM? On my 8v I have a loose heat shield that rattles at ~2800-3000rpm.
