Hey, Was just wondering what it would take to get a AWD to put 300 horses to the ground. What parts, pieces and work would be required? Would the clutch need to be replaced? Are there any other parts of the car that would suffer? Thanx

Re: 300+ whp? What would be needed? (Brown E)

Just went to the APR site. They say 290hp w/ 296ft-lbs at the fly wheel for stage three. Thats about 250 whp right?

How much would a FMIC and a good exahust help that?

LOL, soooo funnah!!! anyways yes def go with the Stage III everyone here will tell you that. You def need a bigger turbo like a k04 or maybe a big garrett turbo, hehe (thinking of T88) LOL

Any one know what turbo comes with the APR stage III kit? Says Garrett, but nothing more specific. N02 would be fun (get to have a "Go Fast" button

) but it wouldn't be as fun just to drive around. oh, and how does the APR Kit effect drivability?

Would there be tons of custom work to put in a T3/T4 turbo? Serious lag? sorry for all the questions... im just overly curious

p.s. What kind Chip would be needed for that? or just a seperate boost controller and Stand alone fuel Management?

No, a T3/4 hybrid spools extremely low and is good for low end power, but it dies off at the high points of the powerband. The stage III has a K04 I believe. If you want a lot of power Id go with a K04, not a T3/4 hybrid..

i think your a little cofused!
your thinking k03/k04 hybrid fromm the AWW motor. the t3/t4 is an aftermarket turbo good for way more power than the kkk series.
check out my car at http://www.vwturbo.com thats how you get 300 hp!!!

the lag from a t88 will be out ragous, maybe you can then use "nitrous" to help spool the turbo up, as alot of supra drivers do...

Re: 300+ whp? What would be needed? (ntrldub)

man the info passed around on this tread so far is TRAGIC! Damn...okay to set a few things straight and answer some questions.
The APR stage 3 comes with a GT-25 dual ball bearing turbo. Good spool, great driviblity, but 322 on race gas and that turbos about maxed out. I'm guessing the Stage 4 will have a GT-35 or something on it with the new FMIC ATP's working on.
The T3/T4 makes WAY more power then the KKK turbos and a bit more then the GT25. The spool and characteristics of the turbo are going to be varied with the trim and AR of the turbo. Billy runs a .57 trim and I think a .48 AR on his T3/T4 and is making WAY over 300hp. Don't expect to spend less then 2400-2600 in parts alone for any kit to get that much power to the engine. Holding that power will require a good clutch/flywheel upgrade and probably some Motormount and LSD for traction. Most guys top out the KKK turbo's then go to a Garrett turbo of some kind. I would suggest you get a DP/Exhaust full 3 inch and learn to drive the car before trying so much power.

Thank god you jumped in when you did....this thread was starting to look scary with inacurate info....

HAHA...its all good though, I would say that 300whp on pump gas would be attainable with the T3/T4 hybrid from ATP...With the APR kit you would be looking into a lot of extra add on goodies to make close to 300 wheel on 93 octane. However I think APR's kit is a beautifully engineered. Everything is seemless and well made. Good Luck.

quote:

322 WHEEL HP at only 20 lbs of boost. Not even close to maxing it out. Look at dyno graphs at:

Well after a quick search I can't find a compressor map for the GT25 but I'm thinking 20psi is getting very close to the max efficiency of the turbo.
Oh, and convient how you quoted the HP of the kit using race gas. I don't know many people who drive on a daily basis using pump gas. Running 93 octane, you got 277whp. This is a realist daily number you should be telling your customers.

Re: 300+ whp? What would be needed? (A-Money)

Rodney brought a very important issue. A lot of people think you can just bolt-on a Stage III kit and that's all you need. Things like heavy duty clutch are a must. Other like LSD and FMIC are highly recommend to get the full potential of the upgraded turbo.

rodney thanks for saving this post from the rages of infamy and debacuhery.
all of you that do not know what the hell you are talking about please shut up.
a t-88 will not work on our car. way way to big
a ko4 will maybe get you to 300crank hp, this is assuming you do a tt ko4 and not a vag ko4.
in which case you would need full exhaust, injectors, IC and a bunch of other mods.
if you go either apr or atp, you would be looking at t3/t4 or you could go t3super60, injectors, new exhaust manifold for t-series turbos, new downpipe, full turboback exhaust, new injectors, fmic, and lots of other doodads.
definitely need flywheel, new pressure plate, clutch, lsd.
