I once had to go to the DMV fer my Exhaust being too loud and it didn't even read on the tester. Most likely the COP was just being an idiot, I wouldn't worry about it.

Unless the exhaust is a Group N it should be legal. Check and see if where you got it from can supply you with a manufacturers noise level certificate, or call the Supersprint importer for one. Hope you make out.

Is the turbo CARB'ed? If so then you're fine. However, why would they want to see the engine compartment? Just curious and glad I don't live in a state that strangles the auto enthusiast (CA & NJ come to mind...).

Maybe you should go to a sheriffs station with a female sheriff.
She didnt know what my exhaust was supposed to sound like and she wrote it off. This is what she said
fs: "What are you here for?"
me: "Im here to get my fix it ticket written off"
me: "Here are my reciepts showing that I made "repairs"." Went from straight pipe to resonator and it still sounds the same.
fs: "Ok"
fs: "What is your car supposed to sound like?"
me: In my head oh I am going to get away with it. "I'll start it up so you can hear it"
fs: "Doesn't sound to loud to me and it sounds fine, Ticket now written off"
Jerry - Hope you can have the same luck as I did. BTW keep a copy of the ticket being written off just incase you get pulled over again.
They shouldnt look under your hood. Exhaust is under your car not the motor.

id pull the vacuum line off the blow off valve when you go to have them look at it
that way if they ask you to rev it they wont hear the psssshh
also, try to park it in a stall facing away from where the cop will be walking up
so all he sees is the back of the car http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
