I am not building a race car here, I just want to see arround 200whp and I don't typically rev the car past 4800rpm. I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible.
Does that combonation sound like a total waste of time?

why not?
trust me...when you get a turbo...you will be pushing it past 4800.

I had a more "appropriately" sized turbo on it before. Its a daily driver, I want it to drive a bit better than it currently does. I have a miata to been on for the weekends.

On the newer tdis (mk4) at least, and possibly on the older mk3 tdis as well, the turbine housing is part of the exhaust manifold. That would make it extremely difficult to bolt a ko3 to. You would need to cut and weld. At that point, might as well make a nice manifold and use a better turbo.

Not to thread jack, but is the K03 larger than a K26 (I tend to think not, but correct me please)? If not, why not just get an Audi 5k mani with a K26, bolts right up to the ABA head, can easily push to 200whp.

This is good to know. Aren't all audi 5k's turbo-d?

The K03 is tiny. My mates K03 G40 (1272 x-flow) spools up at 1800 rpm

thats crazy, I guess I'll hold out for this audi 5k thing. Can anyone else confirm the fitment, and what flange do those ould audis use?

Re: (troze1200)

A couple of minutes searching the archives will tell you everything you need to know about the audi 5k mani and k26 fittment to the 8v head. A couple of quickies for you to help out:
Check out the 8v forum, there has been a few people who have done this. I did some quick reading, and you need to cut off the 5th runner (audi 5k's were 5 cylinders) and weld a block off plate to cover it up.
Click Here for a quick reference about how it fits. vw_dred did a complete pictoral about fittment on the X-flow head. You can see where it needs to be cut at on the exhaust manifold. Hope this helps out http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
