It beats the Astra VXR and Megane 225 and gets itself five stars in the process:
"the Golf is more composed and relaxed over a wider variety of surfaces and situations. There's an extra degree of polish and poise to the way its chassis performs that take tension out of a brisk drive, and a more lucid feel to its steering. In short, it feels like the quality runs deeper."
In comparison, the Golf R32 gets four and a half stars in The Knowledge at the back of the mag.
But the real story in this edition is the comparison between the Clio Trophy and the BMW M6 through the Italian Alps. The Clio Trophy, they say, is the best hot hatch ever. Another five star car.

Re: Good news for Mk V Golf GTI owners in the latest edition of EVO (mdt)

That was the findings in the latest Top Gear as well. Clio Cup was fastest around track, they loved it to death, but the overall package of the gti placed it on top of the three above-mentioned cars.

TOP GEAR
Damn that Evo landed early. Cover shot is awesome. Get the evomail but prefer to read it in the mag. Earliest I've had it was about the 15th and when I subscribed it would take a month after UK release to get here via swiss mail.
