Hi guys. I have had a 99.5 Jetta GLS Auto 2.0 Black w/ Creme for a year now, and it's been ****. $3500 in repairs that I was planning for mods. However, I have stumbled across a CPO 2002 GLS in Silver w/ Black leather, 5 speed 1.8T for $13.5 Do you guys think this is a good price, and do you think i will have less problems? I've averaged 26 mpg with my 2.0... will the 1.8T be better or should I consider a TDI?

Thanks!
Cody

the car has 46000. I was thinking 12000 would be a good price, but I may reach for 11,000.
About looking at a different brand, I have looked at other brands, and what did I find? Nothing seemed to match up. The well mannered civic, Corolla, Acura RSX, etc... none were up to par compared to the jetta. And considering that on a CPO for two years I'd only have to pay for brakes, tires, and anything I feck up, that seems pretty good.

2 cars i am considering to buy is either the Pontiac G6 Coupe for the sporty side of me, then im really leaning towards the Dodge Charger SXT with the Hemi

I really like the Pontiac G6 as well. Unfortunantely I am not looking at new, only used around the price of the car I showed above. Are there any used options around that price range you might suggest?

Re: (iCody)

nope you really dont have much of a choice at that price range... maybe like an 01-02 Mustang GT would be my pick in that price range... shoot i might even look at like a 04 GT when i get ready to buy my next car.
Good Luck!!

how many miles on the 02, even w/o that info 13.5 seems a little high, I wouldnt pay more than 11

You'd be walking out car-less then. That's way below what it's worth, and as a CPO (despite what opinion you may have about CPO), it carries a higher price. Heck, they add warranty to it. To have only 46k miles, that's a decent price.

Re: (freshness05)

although the new charger looks good and has a hemi, it's still a dodge. and for that fact alone, i would never buy one. my family has had 2 dodges ('91 caravan le, and a 97 durango) both were just pure crap. problems galore, especially with transmission.

Re: (esoteric vue)

I just bought a CPO 02 Black GLS 1.8T 5speed with cloth for $13.5k and it only had 25k on the clock. It was at a BMW/Land Rover dealership and had sat on the lot for 147 days, so it was discounted from $16k. Guess people shopping for BMW's aren't interested in VW's

So I lucked out and absolutely love my new(er) Jetta. No rattles, squeeks or anything that a lot people seem to complain about, just a fun car thats way faster than my old 16V. Or maybe I'm just so used to hearing them on my old mk2 that my brain automatically ignores them hehe.

Anything you can imagine. Speedometer gear in tranny, parking cables, a suspension mishap, sensors galore, belts, etc. Some was at a dealer, but most from an independent import shop where I actually get a discount because I've spent so much money there.

Re: Getting a new Jetta (iCody)

You know i have had a lot of resvervations about keeping my gti . I had alot of problems since i owned i t. But as i have become more mature i can see that most if not all the problems i have had with the car is directly with warranty / recall issues and or a direct resulat of modifiing that area of the car to some sort. And all out of warranty issues were later paid fo rby VW as a silent recall. I am really debating a new 2006 gti or a subaru wrx for my next hauler. But reading more abotu subaru they are less likely to cover a defective part as a silent recall and more to just ignore the problem. so evey company has issues. I have heqard from more ford and gm owners taht what they driove has been alot of problems. My oarents ford van blew the tranny 2 miles over warranty ha , POS ford They had 12 recalls and at lest more problems fixing things as it got no more than 3 years old
