K03 died

Well today i went to get a gica chip, all went well and about 2 miles away from the shop i got a loud backfire or bang of some kind and i get no boost. It seems like the connecting rod snapped. I got back and put it back to stock and got my money back. I don't know how it happened, I've always been easy on my car and kept it in check. I only have the samco boost kit and samco tip on my car so i am going to try to get the dealer to fix it.

You blew a boost hose off... I'll bet it was the hose connecting to the pancake pipe too. Get her up off the ground, re-connect the hose and tighten those clamps down! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

If a rod snapped, you would have a big hole in the block with oil and chunks of metal falling out. If you drove back, that is not what happened. My guess is that a hose popped off somewhere between the turbo outlet and the throttle body.

I'd take your tip off before going to the dealer! That could prove hazardous at the dealer. If you don't have the old one, we could work something out. Also, go to boardwalk VW in redwood city, they've been talking good inthe norcal forum PM me if you want to swap tips

What happened sounds like a boost leak... trust me, you'd know if your turbo took a dump. It wouldn't just pop and then loose boost. It'd sound like your dentist was performing a root canal under your hood. Are you sure you checked every hose from the outlet of the turbo to the throttle body?

Yes, if you have a big leak. Check the pancake pipe as others have suggested.

Yes, I'll put money on it that the hose going to your pancake pipe has come off. Any wagers?

The extra boost from the chip found a weak spot in your hosing, but you've got that fixed now.
