Is the SRT-4 lighter, I'll be at the track this weekend and two of my buddies have the SRT-4. How will a GLI that is chipped "neuspeed P-chip", cat-back exhaust, and intake hold up against a SRT-4? Sorry if this has been asked, but I couldn't find it.

Re: GLI -v- SRT4 (6lind5ide)

you are going to get run on...bad. maybe if you had a better chip, but eh....
at the auto-x i can usually beat them, but the neon chassis is a little skittish. even compared to ours, then again - that is mostly driver.

Ok what upgrades are needed to run with them, because I have to run with them sometime this year? If you have friends that have SRT-4s you might know what I'm talking about.

yeah man you will get beat pretty good...if you had a better chip you would have a better chance, but would probably still lose. Neuspeed P-chip http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Re: GLI -v- SRT4 (04-V_double_U)

ok... you could probably run with them in the 1/4 (keep in mind, this is assuming they are totally stock) ...
chip - GIAC, APR, REVO, maybe Upsolute. neuspeed has pretty lame gains compared to those
downpipe - i know catbacks sound cool, but the downpipe is where you are going to see the power gain.
TIP - one of the bolt ons that can help top end power
shaved air box/short ram - on a turbo car CAI does nothing for you. get the air in as fast as possible
N75 - possibly needed to smooth out the power slightly
DV - probably not needed, but not a bad idea
Tires - probably the most important besides the chip
dexterous feet - practice your launches
after all that, you might have a chance. oh yea...they come stock with an LSD too dont they? lol, you better launch real good. i have all of that except for the feet part....i suck at launching...

FYI - the "neon" on the later years does come with an LSD, which makes a big difference at the track when you need to get the power down...
that is a necessary mod if you plan on keeping them at bay...

This is true, but why do so many people make it seem like the GLI would get smoked so bad. If the Jetta is 180 hp @5500 and the Neon is 230 hp @ 5300. The P-Chip claims a hp increase to approximately 220-223hp. That is just the chip, shouldn't we be able to hang with an exhaust, and intake? If we had a LD? Even if you get beat, it should be pretty close correct? That should be around 230-240 hp with everthing installed???
