Hi,
I am looking at getting one of the Bentley manuals for my 2001 Jetta GLX, and saw that there was an "Official Factory Repair Manual" on CD, and a red "Service Manual" book.
Does anyone have a recommendation as to which is better? Has anyone found that there are any signifigant differences between the two, from a technical or a practical perspective?
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I agree get the book, hard to read from a computer when you are covered in grease under your car!
Also the CD has extra VAG codes and tests not found in the book. There are benfits to both. But for most of us the book is perfect.

Thanks for the responses - I think I have the practical angle handled.

How about the technical? Is the material the same in both editions? The DTC codes being included with the CD sounds very appealing...

The CD has most/all of the stuff in the book, but the book is much easier to use. The biggest benefit of the CD is the diagnostic info for DTCs. If you have a VAG-COM, then the CD is a no-brainer. If you don't have a VAG-COM, then the book is probably the better choice.
