i just filled up my gas tank and my CEL turned off. my first reaction was "whats wrong???". when it turns on i dont usually wonder what's wrong.

haha, thats a possibility. whats the life of a bulb? i think my CEL has been on for at least 500000000 hours.

why dont you remove the cluster and take it out... since you probably have a aftermarket steering wheel?

Usually when the ECM detects a fault and triggers the CEL it keeps running test to see if the problem corrected itself (i.e. filling up the car with it running can trigger a cel. Massive evap leak) .if after a set number of drive cycles the problem is no longer present then the light shuts off.
