Hi all, just thought l'd say hello seeing l've opted out of the rex for a new gti.

What l want to know is are there any of you that regulary meet up for drives or are affiliated with any clubs catering for this marque. Coming from the subaru community, l'm sought of curious whether the passion for all things GTI is alive and well.
Nice to say hello to you all in any case.

Welcome aboard

I think one thing you can say about the people here is they are passionate about VWs (maybe a bit too much).!!!
P.S. Don't let Langers put you off, most people here are helpful and interesting.

Re: anyone from Melbourne (grechygti)

Re: anyone from Melbourne (grechygti)

Hi Grechy, welcome to the MLB Chapter of the 'tex.
Most of us are fairly sane, 'cept for the guy who carries a Snoopy tissue box around in the back of a GTI

Oh, and the one who broke his car and thought it'd buff right out

And the one who..........
Ah, why waste words, you'll meet them at the next GTG. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

hey dude. welcome

as these guys said quite a few melbournians on the boards. Unfortunately not many vortex cruises get organised.
http://forums.eurocca.net has regular twisty cruises and is starting to attract quite a few VWs. Worth checking out in my opinion as its a bit more structured. Altho u do have to deal with all those BMW zealots

cos its not just a vw forum

thanks for the replies guys. Seeing l'm still involved with the rexy boys, it might look strange to see my silver gti amongst those guys, but the more l get aquainted around here, lets hope the ledger will change.

Umm, Melbourne Vortex peoples don't seem to GTG as much as Sydney... perhaps its the demographic.

welcome to the vortex gretchy - what side of town you from? Hopefully us melbournites will g2g soon one day. just so many other commitments..
anyhow, out of interest, do you miss the wrx at all?

Re: anyone from Melbourne (grechygti)

Welcome grechygti! I would love to go for a cruise too with the rest of our Melb members. We have some really cool Golfs amongst the Melb clans, like a supercharged R32 owned by a guy who moulds plastic for a living, and a stripped out tricked up VR6 owned by the mother of a legal eagle.

As for Jim's comments about Snoopy tissue box, I have no idea what he is talking about.

Re: (GizmoGTI)

G'day, i'm the Northern suburbs of Melbourne, and l pick the car up 2morrow, so looking forward to it.

As far as the rex goes, l let her go last night to the lucky new owner and l have to say that they are a fun car to drive and yes l had alot of great drives and moments with it. Of course it was not stock so l was getting 162kw at the wheels, which isn't bad for the minimal mods l did.
But looking forward to the euro experience and more importantly the refinement that comes with it as opposed to the rex.
