Hi folks, I could not find the info that I needed, i downloaded it on my home pc, but want to download the Vagcom on my laptop.
I was at the dealer, and there communist programming in CA, would not allow them to select DRL's OFF. I was standing right there, Only a on switch.
Somebody a while back posted the NEW Vagcom download so i can go in and make the change, as well as my windows down with the remote feature. Please, could you repost please~! would love to download. The tech has the plug and all I need to do is bring my laptop with the software, luckily he's a die hard vw guy, (older vw though) so he will get me hooked. THANKS,
WAnna shut them off for the road trip!

Re: Got back from Dealer, Vagcom help (musquiz)

Not too sure what you're asking...do you want the VAG-COM beta version? If so go to http://www.rosstech.com and DL it from there. But, just to let you know, their cable unlocks the software. Another friend of mine bought the cable off of ebay and it will not work with the software...and now he's stuck with a useless 100.00 cable...so just beware. I hope I answered your question. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

His VAG-COM has to be able to support CAN bus communication. If you've already had it hooked up to your car, then you're good to go.
The new beta version will want to update the firmware in the cable. Because mine was borrowed I didn't use the beta version because of this, HOWEVER, I did use lcode.exe which comes with the beta version and found that to be very useful.

Even if you DL it from here it's going to go to the same place on your computer. Probably just easier to search for the file...on your PC.

The regular release of the software went into c:\program files\vag-com or whatever, but the beta version went right into the root c:\vag_com_ beta or whatever. lcode.exe was in that folder.
I'm an electrical engineer who loves digital coding, and I had a rough time without lcode.exe. I could figure it out just fine, but when messing with my 1 week old car I was kinda looking for something to hold my hand. I'm sure you can understand.

We all understand, trust me

I'm still afraid to change the ATA confirm tone because I can't get anyone to tell me if the Bit and Byte are correct. And the OBD descriptions are sometimes vague.

I changed two codes next to eachother, lemme see if I can find them. One was something about pwm/ regular or something. Made no difference in what my horn confirm locking sounded like. The 2.5 across the street is so much quieter, but still sounds nothing like a MKIV.

I don't have the cable anymore, but these are what I remember changing. I donno if I had to do anything to activate the new code, I was in a hurry... didn't make any difference.
Byte 11 Bit 5 Siren Tone Type
(0 = frequency modulated / 1 = intermittent)
Byte 11 Bit 6 Siren Alarm Type
(0 = 10 "tamper" alarms / 1 = 1 "tamper" alarm)

If it didn't change the honk to a 2.5/Touareg Chirp, what did it change the honk to?

It didn't change a damn thing, however it wasn't set with the changes for more than a few moments, as I had to return the cable within minutes afterwards. I always had my doubts in "if I changed it right" I guess you could say. try it out, and let us know.

You have to have the 2005.5 model for the Touareg chirp, due to the fact the 2005.5 uses the Touareg alarm module and the 2006 does not.
Sorry, VAG-COM programming won't alter the "DNA" of the module...

Where did you found that the 2005.5 uses the tourag alarm module and that the 2006 does not?
Both have the same comfort control module, the only difference I see is that some use different horns for the honk, but none of them was ever equipped in the touareg.

Oh, you're Sebastian??? VWYankee told me to get in touch with you about exactly this subject. So, you can't change it huh? What is this for then?
