Re: Is Installing Cruise Control in My Trendline this Freaking Simple? (ABrz...)

then you gotta hope your ecu supports cruise functions

Re: Is Installing Cruise Control in My Trendline this Freaking Simple? (IML337)

It can be optioned, but not sure what this really means in terms of the required fitments. As far as I am aware this may or may not be the case.
Please Mr Langers, can you please confirm a translation of the last part of the description, re 'IF' the controller 1K0 953,549 is blocked ex factory?
I never have a use for cruise control, as for long trips I take my campervan, however for the sake of a $50 outlay at the wreckers, if it is simply a matter of installing the indicator stick, then a worthwhile investment for something else to play with on my 5 minute M4 trips.

1K0054691 Speed control governor for vehicles without multi-function announcement, with Lenkwinkelse € 175,00

The original speed control governor which can be inserted simply keeps each speed constant starting from approximately 30 km/h. If the speed which can be stored is reached, the speed control governor can be activated by a short pressing of the key at the turn signal switch. The lying close speed is stored and kept constant. With the accelerotor pedal if the speed is increased, after its releasing, the plant regulates automatically on the speed stored before back. During operation of the braking or clutch pedal the immediate deactivation of the plant takes place. By unique pressing of the key at the turn signal switch the regulation can be taken up immediately again. Please you consider, if the controller 1K0 953,549 is blocked ex factory that this, with which into the originals speed control governor 1K0 054,691 must be exchanged contained controller.

Re: (ABrz...)

sorry, been studying for 2 weeks non-stop and I'm about to lose it
what I meant was that because a lot of them didn't get cruise control on their cars, they organised a "cruise control fitting day". so they had all the info like part numbers, prices, installation procedures etc

plug in a vag-com and see if you have the measure blocks that support cruise functions. On mine (AGU engine) it is measure block 066.

Re: (GizmoGTI)

Allan, on early Boxsters, cruise was an option. However it was already programmed into the ECU and it was a matter of installing the stalk. I suspect it is the same here. Good luck! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (Lams)

.....only works for drive by wire vehicles, as i understand it.. the MKiV pov packs (1.6's) apparently are NOT drive by wire... no idea what the MKV is (Seb?).. if you have a DBW car then it's reputed to be a simple stalk, small loom and ECU code change..
.. i'm told my car is not DBW, but the accelerator pedal often dissapears under my foot to maintain idle.. other than pulling off the plastic cover, what's a simple way to confirm this myself (on a MKiV, 1.6).

Re: (craig_m5)

You need Stalk, Wiring, Control Box (maybe 2 x) and Sensors for Clutch Brake and Accel... it will need to be CAN based (Mk4) so that Vag-Com can detect it.
I don't think your ecu needs cruise bits as the cruise control box is picking up sensors for safety and then just relaying an assumed accell position to ecu to make it gogo.

haha you just confirmed it for us - the pedal isn't going to move if it's just connected to an electronics box with wires coming out of it and going through the firewall - the ECU will just adjust the throttle by itself.
It's definately a cable throttle in your case - the pedal is physically connected to the engine, hence why it moves by itself when the car is trying to maintain idle

It works by using a vacuum system (or stepper motor) and this pulls a cable attached to your throttle body (same point as your accel pedal) that is why your pedal moves with the cruise on.

err, no.. i guess that 's the root of my question, does the pedal move under the feet of you DBW people ?
whilst my pedal may be cable connected to something.. i don't know what it is... anyways.. i'm fairly sure my car is not DBW.
