I know with the late 90 audi motors you dont need to use the cluster etc. You can by pass it etc. But what years can you use it from? I am wondering if its all the 98-99 or what.

Re: aeb audi motors? (1.8TRabbit)

the AEB was found in pre 2000 Audi A4 and VW Passats. They are the most desirable engine mostly for their larger intake and exahust ports in the head (quite a bit larger than the later longitudinal and transverse engines). They along with the (I believe) pre 2002s had larger wrist pins also which for high HP setups would be worth wild.
The pre 2000 cars also were Drive by Cable rather than Drive by wire....though a swap of the cluster, the gas pedal and throttle body and engine managment (DBC ECU or standalone) and DBW becomes DBC.

ya AEB like I said are pre 2000 (97-99 audi a4s and passats).
All I know (and what it seems others know) about the cast vs forged deal is "aeb are all cast, aug auto is cast, aug manual is forged, and aww, awd, awp, and awm are all forged" from here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1480850
