the best way to get rid of the rattles that everyone here despises is to ride in a Saturn.. I had a few rattles.. then i rode in a saturn.. Ever since then, i couldnt seem to hear my pesky rattles.. boy those american cars are bad.. Either i dont get the rattles you guys get.. OR you all are making a big deal out of nothing..

Center console -
<<<<Pulled out the Cup Holder and Cubby hole (if you have one), wraped entire cup holder with two layers of electrical tape, put one layer over the little notch that holds it in the rear. Cubby hole got some electrical tape on the two tabs that are on the rear.
Front doors -
<<<< Pull off door pannel and taped up the speaker connections up by the sail panel (tweeter) Horrible design of that connector holder!
Rear Doors -
<<<< Pull off panel and tape down wires that bounce around, I used duct tape
So far - they are the only rattles I have found and destroyed.
Good luck

You will never get rid of all the squeaks... trust me on this

Sorry couldn't talk to you more ( was busy erasing DTCs and getting the readiness codes back to normal on my friend's monster 1.8T )... maybe another time.
Cheers

Aye! Getting a website together would be great, I'll even host it, lemme know. Got a thousand and one rattles that I'd like to get rid off. Only one of all the tricks so far that worked for me is lubing the door seals with tire wet to quiet down the creaks.

im working on a website now to help all you guys (and gals

) out. Hopefully you guys can ride in silence instead of cranking up the monsoon and going deaf at the age of 26 instead

. Now for a quick wheel well solution, the actual plastic casing/covering was not snapped in because the stupid dealership (Which will remain nameless for now) stole the bottom baffle of my car (20 bux says all of your baffles are missing too, go and check, its what that plastic thing thats hanging down under your engine is supposed to be connected to so it wont hang!!! argh), anyways, dealer didnt put it back on and thus also didnt properly screw in part of my front wheel well. So everytime im going over a bumpy road or shut the driver door, i hear a "trrrrrrrr" sound, like a mini jackhammer. It was the screw that was basically tapping against my wheel well everytime it was confronted with a bump. I unscrewed the entire wheel well and put in all the nuts then screwed it back in, called the dealer, cussed them out, then went and slept

. For other rattles, i have previous posts, do a search on the archives. Hopefully, all will be compiled when website is up. Thanx peeps.
BTW, my friend drove a 1.8t today, gti, 180 hp, 5sp... it had nice pull... still like my vr better (so did he). LOL. i still need to drive a chipped one.

I get these rattles when I turn up the volume of the Monsoon. Sounds liek it's coming from the door handles or lock pin areas of the rear doors. Do the solutions you tried here solve these rear door rattles?

Re: My state of rattle free utopia..... HAS FINALLY COME TO AN END! (DriversWanted)

I killed a rattle on my driver's side door. It turned out to be a stupid round black plastic thing used to seal a hole near the latch on the door. I just took a small rubber band and wrapped it around the rim of black plastic thing and shoved it back in and no more rattle!

there are two from the driver side door, the first is what you just said. The second is from the annoying tweeter and the wires with it. I thought i had all these pesky rattles nailed a few months ago, but these stupid los angeles roads, theres like a pothole every freaking 20 feet, and construction everywhere. They wreck roads instead of paving them, making my car rattle! argh. I should make the city of l.a. fix my rattle... LOL j/k

I hear ya man, here in the east bay, roads are terrible

Roads are much better in CO. There's not even snow to blame for the bad roads here in CA ! Wonder if all the money goes into the bridges...

school started, I can barely manage, but am still writing it up (so dont worry, it WILL be up). I need pics though, so I need to borrow my friends dig. camera to take them to illustrate what the heck im talkin about, cause the instructions will be VERY detailed. If it takes long, sorry guys (and gals
Image
) but right now I have to put Electromagnetism Physics and Multi-Variable Calculus ahead of pesky rattles. HEHE. Take care everyone.

As long as we're talking about rattles, does anybody have a solution for the rattle that is sometimes heard from driver's side dashboard, where it meets the windshield's bottom left corner? It sounds like a little "tick tick tick" and is sometimes non-existant, but pops its ugly head in every now and then.
