Okay im a new member here and I am in love with my first Veedub. Its a 84 Rabbit GTi and I've already upgraded the exhaust with some 2' and quarter Techtonics...high perform cat....Dynomax muffler....and some Pirelli p6000 summers on the stock rims. Its been a week already and I've tuned tones of things already for certification to get 'er up to par. Okay....this week is my suspension week and im debating between Neuspeed and H&R springs...I've been hearing alot of bad stuff coming from Neuspeed...and I need some opinions for droppin her down an inch and a quarter. Its more for handling than looks. Also I need some comments about getting some Boge Pro Gas also.

Re: Neuspeed vs. H&&R (Cuzo)

I have Neuspeeds on my GTI, and I like them, very firm.
However, I just put H&R's on my brother's GTI, and I think that's what i will go with on my next car. They ride very well, not quite as harsh as the Neuspeeds, but still firm, and they seem to handle well.

Re: Neuspeed vs. H&&R (bluerrrabbit)

I like the H&R's as well. We put them on my fiance's cabby and I love the ride. They're nice and firm but not too stiff. I think the next combo on the bunny will be H&R's along w/ Bilstein Sports!

Re: Neuspeed vs. H&&R (JoshmkII)

I have Neuspeeds on my 83 and will be replacing them with H&Rs soon. Same handling w/o the harsh ride.

Its looks like im leaning to H&R.....if not Boge, what do you recommend?
Since, im new I want to tell you a little more of what I've got....my brother in law finally let go of his GTi (that he bought in '84) and I've been breaking 'em to get it off his hands for like ten years already. It needed some little things like a new clutch cable, rear brakes, ball joint, and tie rods....and I got it with no exhaust at all! Its a silver with 200,000ks and no accidents....as all original, as all original can be! I jus ordered some Euro bumpers....the stock ones are blah....and a dtm style tip with my fresh TT exhaust today. I'm want to shop around and not ripped off for the suspension and get something that I can can corner and let those Pirellis at full use. Last thing done will be paint but the kind of paint job I want I cant afford b/c of all things I've done already. No money, no funny!

I can back that up. My roommate has a Corrado with a Neuspeed/Bilstein combo and I have H&R coilovers. My car rides much better and handles just as well. It's a night and day difference.

Re: Neuspeed vs. H&&R (Cuzo)

If you'd consider it, I have a full H&R cup kit I'm willing to sell. Never used, still in the box with all the wrapping. $600 shipped.

Re: Neuspeed vs. H&&R (AdidasCU)

for shock/struts bilsteins really kick butt. You could also go with Koni.
Boge [i[would probably work ok for you, but Ive learned that trying to save a few bucks by going with cheaper parts sometimes bites you right in the a$s, because in a year or so you spend more money to get the better stuff.
That guy selling the H&R Cup kit brand new for 600$ shipped sounds like a decent plan for you.
They go for $595 new from a shop, but then you do have to pay shipping so you will save a few $$ from him.

Re: Neuspeed vs. H&&R (JoshmkII)

I have the neuspeed/boge progas combo on my '87. I blew one front strut, boge replaced both fronts. Other then that I like them alot, I think they are much better then OK. The car handles very well but the ride is very stiff.
