Re: (Dieselstation)

See, thats what we need nowadays. Good, solid, utilitarian trucks with real capability, no frills, and a lower price.
If they brought that over here with a 5,000 lb tow rating, 4 wheel drive, a good turbodiesel with a manual trans, and a decent stereo, and priced it at...ohh, say $20,000, they would need crowd control at TOyota Dealers.
Starting with me.

Re: (mtrainTurbo)

Yeah that's pretty rad. I would definately take it over most of the current truck offerings. This truck is totally usable and probably not as bad on gas as a big 350. Reminds me of the old Jeep Cherokees. Business first!

That thing is so freakin' cool.
I agree with mtrain, we need a no frills truck in America.
Too bad those bumpers would never work here. Safety-shmasafety

Okay, agreed. So bring us the Jeep Gladiator, that Wrangler pickup thing. TOss the Liberty CRD into it, back it with a 6 speed manual, proper 4WD, a 5K lb tow rating, and price it at 25 grand.
Hell, I would buy that almost before I would buy the TOyota!

Re: Forget the New Tundra, Toyota needs to bring this to the States (240nut)

Actually the ones pictured are 78s. They have the crappy 5 stud hubs from the 100 series with coil sprung live axle up front and leafs at the rear. They also have the larger cab with the welded roof, earlier models had a removeable cab roof. Tough as hell, and about as comfortable as well. I saw an 1987 model sell for $10,000 not long ago!

Re: Forget the New Tundra, Toyota needs to bring this to the States (koko12)

We in the Land Cruiser community (TLCA, IH8MUD, etc.) have been lobbying Toyota for a decade to bring in their overseas, solid axle Cruisers. They simply won't meet US crash and emissions standards so Toyota won't bring them in.
They'd sell in VERY small numbers. No where near enough to warrant the millions it would cost to update and certify them.

Re: Forget the New Tundra, Toyota needs to bring this to the States (Sporin)

These are some of the best selling trucks in Venezuela
Up side:
1. They are indestructable, they last forever.
2. Maintenance is a breeze.
3. The engine is more than a enough.
4. Suspension set up is perfect for off-roading.
5. It's a REAL Toyota, not a plastic clad pick up, this kind of truck is what Toyota is really all about outside the US and Europe.
The down side,
1. Definetly not a highway vehicle.
2. Safety concerns.
3. Never could it be your DD, you'll get tired in a hurry.
4. Only the most hard core US buyers would go for it, this is a real off-roader, possibly the best in the world, but it's no soccer mom truck.
Edit: But for my money, I'd get one of these:
Autana
