Re: Motor Mount options and opinions. (OttawaG60)

Soild or Poly. I have a solid EIP unit, and it is solid. No rocking whatsoever.
That said, the second time around, I think I would get a stiff poly.

quote:

Plus, don't the solid ones usually end up breaking the mount bracket, since they are too stiff? Just something I've heard. . . .

Can anyone confirm this?
Makes sense if the 2 rear ones allow too much rocking...

Here's what I have been able to find.
ND/Vibra-Technics: Mk2, Corrado G60 Front Engine Mount - Competition $269.99
Turn2 A2 Aluminum Motor Mount $149.95
BBM Front Polyurethane Engine Mount $179.00
EIP Solid Front $159.00

Re: Motor Mount options and opinions. (OttawaG60)

Well Jerome, I haven't really thought about the mounts or researched any of the products available, but the BBM one looks like a decent one and the price looks pretty good too...

Re: Motor Mount options and opinions. (corrado2z2)

My thoughts were the same...
the BBM one would prolly work better for the long haul...
Solid mounts are gonna shake the bejeezus out of you on those
cold nights we experience up here

they have the vibratechnics for the cheapest
172 for the road
189 for the race

Re: Motor Mount options and opinions. (SSj4G60)

i have a vibratechnics and it is really good, but the only downside( and i am wondering if this is just from it being solid) is breaking the mount above it. it was being run really hard (racin' a porsche

). maybe the polys are better, but other than that incident, i love it http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Motor Mount options and opinions. (XGTiG60X)

I have vibratechnics too and they are great. They are hard but do not buzz like some poly ones I have tried.
Also, the vibratechnis are NOT 100% solid. They have an aluminum base with a rubber insert. This insert allows for minimal movement to avoid breaking brackets and keep the car from buzzing.
If your front mount broke, it is probably due to the fact that your 10 year old bracket got weakened at the time when your stock mount was bad. It happened to me too. Replaced with new bracket about 1.5 years ago and had no problems since.
