Technically, it didn't blow. And I took the inlet off to do some logs and was going to put it back on afterwards, hence no screen. And it did it the first time I got in boost and I knew what it was instantly and limped home. Besides, it's a K03 and I've been planning an upgrade for quite some time. Even with bent fins, the car still ran a 13.9@100 on pump gas in street trim.

Re: GIAC X+ and Milltek exhaust not a recommended combo?!... (Neufurstenhutte)

I am very interested in getting the GIAC X+ sofware. I asked AWE if what I was running on my car right would be OK. Basically a Forge 007DV and a 3"-2.5" Milltek turboback exhaust. The fellow mentioned that GIAC DOES NOT recommend a 3" exhaust. Does anyone here have this setup, GIAC X+ and any 3" DP exhaust? I am just curious why a more "open" exhaust is not recommended. Thanks in advance.

They don't recommend it because the X+ itself is an very aggressive chip and a 3" DP could cause even higher spikes which is detrimental to the turbo.

3 inch will always make more power, period. i had a 3 inch downpipe with a 3 inch boost activated dump, which is pretty much as free flowing as your gonna get, and it was great. gobs of power and no ill effects.

Do you have any evidence this is true? When I tested a 3"/3" vs 3'/2.5" on a 500hp engine, there was no difference

Re: (bobqzzi)

it's just not recommended(disclaimer)
