is there alny way to turn off the running lights on an 01 passat? i havent looked but does vagcom have anything to do that?

Search for disabling DRLs (day time running lights).
Easily achieved by pulling Relay 173.

yea i searched it. dont pull relay 173 thats what ive found. it disables the e brake light. your suppsed to either tape pin tfl or removed the yellow tfl wire from the fuse box

pull RELAY 173,all it effects are the DRL http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif , ive done it and so have hunderds of other if you do a archives forumn search,and if you install a EURO switch ,you can have an endless combonation of lighting options

There you go again propagating incorrect information.
Pulling Relay 173 is not dangerous. It is one of, if not the most, common method to disable DRLs.

I realize its common, but that doesn't mean it is the right way to do it, ON ALL CARS. maybe on your car it worked, but in other places i have seen after i googled it, it said that pulling Relay 173, you may disable the e-brake light.

Yea, well when some kid comes in lookin for an easy way to turn off their running lights, and sees that they can pull 173 in their Golf, I will just blame you then. No problem.

Hell! In that case, search http://www.allpar.com They have great forums. Check in on disabling DRL.
