Before you go off telling people they're stupid, posting useless responses, why don't you make sure you're not the idiot! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
With the exchange rate, a car is a much better buy in Canada.

One thing you still have to consider is the good 'ol contribution to the government... Not sure what it is like around the states... but in ontario, add 15%!!! BASTARDS!!!

Previous to the new '02 4 year warranty, the US warranty was 2 years B2B and 10 years powertrain. The Canadian one was 2yrs/5 yrs. The catch with the 10 year powertrain was that it was not tranferable.
VWofC was asked why Canada and US had this diference in warranty, supposedly, they claim that Canadians, specifically the Québecois are more demanding with warranty claims, that's what I read anyway...

We did not pay off the debt (approx $530 Billion), we eliminated the deficit.

The Canadian version also comes with a mounting bracket to hook your car up to a dog team.
Also we con't have Matchstick Red in Canada instead we have Mountie Red.

Re: Any difference between US and Canadian 1.8Ts? (tobyc)

hey tobyc... how do ya like your Shine setup? I've been reading alot of good things about it and I was wondering how it handled the southern ontario roads...
Also, if ya don't mind me asking... how much did it cost and where did ya get it done? Also, how much did it lower you?
Thanks

Re: Any difference between US and Canadian 1.8Ts? (PoTs)

It cost $900USD and $300CAD to install. It handles the road really well it makes the car feel more neutral to oversteer esp. with their rear bar installed. Mine didn't lower the car one iota, but I have heard that they redesigned the suspension to lower the car some. It won't lower your car nearly as much as pretty much all the other manufacturers. Dick Shine explained it to me when I talked to him about lowering. He baisically scorns lowering with a street kit. It handles fabulously though and I like the sleeper look and I don't have to worry as much as others about busted oil pans
