They weld alloy lips onto mild steel rims?? Can they do that? Seems you'd be polishing the rims every night if it wasn't alloy they welded on to widen them

no.. they band the barrel..
they cut the center out.. put a band in the barrel to widen it, then weld the center back in..
and those ones are chrome dipped.

the other way to do it is to just buy a barrel that was premade wider, and then weld the centers from the desired wheels into the steel rim barrel of the desired width.

that's interesting...just for knowledge and for future reference, where could find all this beside the centers?
