Re: Fuel Pump? (92GTi16v)

well...
its the pump yes..
for one keep a very full or over 1/2 tank always
when minew as dying at 1/4 it would whine.. then after a year it started to whine at 1/2 etc.
i would repalce it if i were you.. but if u cant... where is it whining what level of gas?
the less gas u have in there the harder it has to work... remember that
i mean urs is already cutting out ,, mine never did,.. mine just whined. so.. i dunnno i aint no expert but i can just go by what i know from mine..

Re: Fuel Pump? (Anton_box)

Save yourself some pain and replace your fuel filter 1st...That's probably the issue...After that...or at the same time...replace the in tank pump...it's very easy...this should make your main pump's job much easier and prolong it's life. The in tank pump will wear out eventually anyway and they're only like $40(US).

yes...I realize that the pump is making the noise...but...it's usually because the pump is working too hard...this could very well be caused by a clogged fuel filter...this has happened to me on more than 1 occasion. A main pump is expensive..if he can avoid replacing it by just getting a new filter, I think that's the way to go...If this doen't solve the problem...then at least he's got a new filter that he would replace with the new pump.

Aight thanks guys my tank is at full I just filled it up lastnight. I'll try replacing the filter first cause the pump is like 220 (CAD) and the filter is a lot cheaper. Thanks for all the help.
