Re: About done with this fudgin car...cooling probs AGAIN (jininkan)

Make sure you flush the cooling system with the engine running because draining the fluids from the radiator does not allow the junk in the block to get replaced. Also, you should flush before all the new parts are installed.

will do http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif just bought the remaining sealsneeded...

Oh, I forgot, the buring oil could be cause by oil dripping on your engine through your broken PCV line.
This happened to me.
BTW, did you plug the vacuum line going to your PCV line?

its not a stuck thermostat. if it was the car would over heat completly. its also not the mk4 headgasket. by any chance have you pressureized your coolant system? 1 leak and everything turns to nothing. think of it this way, boiling point of water is only 100 degrees. pressurize than and it more than doubles. if your system is not pressurizing properly, than thats probably your problem. i have seen tons of people overheat there cars because of bad radiator caps. none of this has anything to do with your mods. go to your local shop and have them look things over and pressurize it. try that before you spend tons of money on parts you might not need.

my car didn't overheat once. drove for about 2mths trying to figure out why the oil temp was so high. water temp would stay normal, then started to climb a little bit but still never over heating. but a stuck thermostat was the problem. reason... the car was able to survive using the heater core to vent off some heat, enough to not go too high anyway. i still put my money on the thermo

only reason im saying it is not the thermostat is because he has changed it already. i highly doubt that 2 thermostats would be bad and do the same thing. not only that but when a thermostat is stuck closed the temp of the motor shoots up. you must live where its 0 degrees and blast the heat in order for your car to run like it did on a stuck thermostat. reguardless you have to take into consideration of the new parts he put in the car. whatever he replaced usualy means its all good now thus ruling that out as a problem. i still think a pressure test couldnt hurt.

Re: About done with this fudgin car...cooling probs AGAIN (XXX008XXX)

its easy to see if thermostat is stuck. When car is up to temp at the temp the thermostat will open, if the bottom hose and the top hose are not the same temp that means thermostat is stuck. After you do that it can only be a few things that is causing car to run hot. He needs to check to make sure all speeds on fan are coming on, if they are, it could be a clogged radiator, a dirty radiator (on the outside), a water pump that is not working properly. Anything beyond this will be major problems. I think they went a little overkill on the VR6 cooling system, and could have made it a little more simple. To many hoses to bust....plastic bits to break......stupid allen bolts to strip...water pumps to always go out, auxillary water pumps to take a shiet....caps to leak....clamps that suck and break....thermostats that go out to soon......heater cores that blow up...and hoses that suck....The coolant system in the VR6 is the weakest link !! .. I have replaced every damn part on the cooling system at least twice...some more than twice.......by the way ...fans that go out as well... peace to the coolant gods...may they watch over my low tem fan switch and my oil cooler...and my low temp thermostat...
AMEN .... Brotha get that system fixed...

1) You would need a heck of alot of pressure to double the boiling point of water. Much more than rubber hoses could provide.
2) The boiling point of water is 212 degrees F and 100 degrees C. US gauges are in F.
3) The only way your car would over heat because the cooling system wasn't pressurized is if too much coolant vaporized or leaked out. By pressurizing the system, you raise the specific heat of the coolant and thus a higher temperature is needed to vaporize the coolant. This is why you put a lid on food to cook it faster. Thus, you will actually run hotter with your coolant system pressurized, you just won't have to keep checking and adding coolant.

also feel the radiator for cold and hot spots. could be a blockage in there or very rarely a blockage in the block itself. you pressurize the system to look for leaks. i was saying there could be a pinhole leak in it he has not been seeing.

that man knows what he is talking about, two times kid http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif ! and if that crap don't work out your motor is done!
