well then im in a pickle. i guess i need to go to the junkyard and see what im missing.
would it be located on the driverside of the manifold? there are some tapped holes there that seem to be unused? but other than that all seems well in that area. does it run off the brake booster vacume line?

ok so i got the vaume line hooked in. and nothing changed. retorqued the sensor itself it seemed a little tight.
i was trien to check the control box with a multimeter and i get no readings from any of the prongs.
since i dont know whta im doin i tried both the unit and the plug, with keys in and out. battery plugged in and unplugged. tried + on a certain plug and - on another swithched that around and no matter what i did i couldnt get a reading out of it? could very well be lack of experience. i aint scared to say it.
since i redid the vacume line and got no changes, leads me to beleive that the problem lies in there in the knock sensor somewhere.
car starts. halfway idles, wont rev over 3.5 g's. and back fires/sputters
and sometimes when i turn it off then try it again there must be unused gas in the chamber still cause it goes BOOM!!!!!
any input.

Also replae your knock sensor if you are worried about it. They are like 50-60 bucks. Make sure you don't overtorque.
15 ft/lbs was fine for me but I run a 1.8l 8v in a 92 Jetta.
Get a Bentley and check out the torque specs.
