Its easy to call people that drive Hondas/Acuras ricers because thats all we see here...When I go to my local Tim Hortons(Coffee shop) there must be a ratio of 15:1 Hondas/Acuras in the parking lot compared to anything else...People dont like what they see often and its hard to be original with a Honda when you know there are hundreds of people that have the same car, color, rims, exhaust etc. as you...
If you go to Europe, VW is the number 1 selling car company...

Aren't you tired of all these for example Jettas that they all resemble each other

Absolutely not.

The VW "scene" is what I love and the fact that no one around me has a mk2 that looks like mine.

There in lies the contradiction...

Yeah, I get that. although in europe I seen loads of dubs and I still like them. I don't like them cos they're different. I like them cos I like them! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (top fuel)

It's just brand loyalty, like with chevy and ford guys. Any die hard fan of a brand is going to talk crap about another, but you can always tell a real car enthusiast when they suck up that bit of brand pride and give props where they are due

Re: (Mk2GTiG60)

I drive a Honda. It's one of the best cars I have ever owned. Rebuilt motor with 30K on it, low mileage Japanese trans with around 30K on it. I have never had such a reliable car with NO ISSUES. I did brakes. I put in better headlights. Air horns were a must. I also like the rear independent suspension and 42 MPG I got on my way to and from Portland this weekend! Mine is a clean little car with no performance mods. Just a great, comfy econocruiser that will be driven to Vegas. There's nothing wrong with a clean Japanese car that is modded tastefully. I think it's disgusting to see a MKII slammed on BBS rims. That's my opinion. But for everyone to be so blind as to hate all Japanese cars is just retarded and uncalled for. I have owned at least 10 VW's and I will own more in the future. You can't knock on reliabilty.

Re: Genuinely Curious... (Jeebs)

i've seen both sides of the statement, being as i've owned both vw's and subaru's. it's all personal style expressed through it's own form. a well modified subaru wrx sti is a very very nice machine, but in the same regard i hop in my jetta that right now is a pain in the a$$ and i still think its a nice car, its just my personal choice.

I think a stock STI is kinda ugly, with the hood scoop and wing and all...

That said, a clean Honda, or Subaru, or Toyota, or Nissan, or /insert Japanese brand here is a good thing.

I personally like the look of the Mk2 Volkswagens, but I don't MIND plain Civics and things... it's the rice that bothers me.

Re: (bhtooefr)

Well, let me express what I have found after hanging out here a couple of years....Anyone who comes into a post and starts spouting off about rice is usually a new member and is about 17 years old. The majority of the people on here are car enthusiasts and will stick up for any car when they see that it is worthy.

I for one think VTEC is one of the most amazing engine developments in the last 50 years. A lot of cars have VVT now, but VTEC is added lift & duration at high rpms, that is unbelievable. Imagine the things we could do on VW engines w/ that.
Don't make me bring up my mario kart argument for why VWs are better though

Re: (umeng2002)

For me it is all about the road feel and feedback I get from the mk2 chassis. Plus I like the old school boxy european design and styling.
I personnaly do NOT like the way the japanese cars drive, feel and look. Granted some are very fast.
That is just my opinion though.
I do like quite a few american cars, though, my first pick would be european.

Re: (WickedMystic)

i am a registered car dealer. That means PRICE, QUALITY AND AFFORDABLITY. truth be told i have bought and sold problably every vw and honda make and model out there.
im a die-hard V-dubber. BUT... im gonna pay the credit where it's due. Honda means Resale value, not in my heart but in my pocket.
Kids destroy these cars and most times i love it because it brings a smile to my face. They'll be at the auction sooner or later for CHEAP MONEY.
Why VW. easy...everyone and there mother doesnt have one. early makes have some problems but that has done nothing but create a relationship with the car that i would'nt have had other wise.
Finally ill say i appreciate all makes and models and i have driven and owned tons but i only have a permanent spot in my garage for 1.
