1995 Passat (B4) 2.0 4cyl.
My car was parked in my garage for at list 3 weeks, the gas was really low (on red) yesterday i drove the car to a gas station to pump some gas, i noticed the car was failing, i stoped into the gas station, turned the car off and pumped gasoline, started the car and left, the car worked fine. This morning i noticed the pump was not making the usual noise, the car won´t start, just like if i was trying to start a car without gas. Is there any way i can test the pump?? The fuse looks fine. Is the pump can be rebuilt??
Thank you.

Re: Fuel Pump Issue (lucalucaluca)

At the connector on the pump, you have a power and ground for the pump, and their is a pin for the fuel sending unit. Check a wiring diagram to find out which. To bypass the relay and the rest of the circuit, you can run a wire from battery positive to the positive terminal on the pump, and a ground wire to any good ground. If the pump kicks on, then it's good. Then the easiest way to check the relay would be to pull it out and using a 9v battery apply positive lead to pin 86 and the negative to pin 85, it should click. If that's good and the fuse, then you have to start tracing the wires, and measuring voltage with a voltmeter. I would start by making sure the ground is good, then the power circuit.

It would have to be at least submerged in a pan or coffee can of gas.

That's right because if it runs dry it will overheat really fast. Why don't you want to test it in the tank?
