Ok,
I've been through 4 mufflers in the past two years and hav'nt found one that will perform silently (somewhat)
I need a new Muffler.

Car is a cabby with 16v cams, p&p, Header etc.
1st muffler was a Dynamax on 10 year old tt system. Replaced muffler because its seams were seperated.
2nd a oval Cherry Bomb (similar to Dynomax) cheep but very loud. used it for 4 days.
3rd Magnaflo on the same tt system. Expensive and loud.
4th brand new tt 2-1/4 system with Borala muffler same loudness as Magnaflo.
Its only a matter of time before I get nailed for this and would like to quiet it down before i have to pay a fine.
What is everyone else using?

Re: Need a quieter car, what muffler? (karmann16v)

do you have a resonator on your exhaust before the muffler?
I have a gutted cat some aftermarket resonator and what looks like an ebay fart can and it's too loud also. I don't know if the resonator is gutted also though, from the way it sounds I think it has been.

headers make a car alot louder and change the pitch alot. Best bet would be to start doubling up. Ive heard Remus isnt that loud but low toned. Try somthing like that and add a resonator. My bud added a cherry bomb to his vr and a remus, puppied it right down
