Re: (skitso)

Oh, snap. This is exactly what I needed.
Don't mean to hijack the thread, but would anyone have any idea why my head unit will regularly just stop working in between drives (i.e. it works, I turn the car off, come out later, it doesn't work), but can be revived by taking out the radio fuse (#22), which is not broken, and reinserting it?

I've tried two different 10 fuses, and they both do it.

Stock head unit? Aftermarket? Can you borrow another head unit and see if it still happens? Do you have it wired up correctly?

could be bad wiring to the headunit. allowing power to ground out. this doesnt mean the fuse should be blowing. because the headunit wouldnt be drawing anymore power after it was all drained to ground.
could also be a faulty head unit.

Hiya. The head unit is an Alpine. I've had it for over five years. It might be a wiring issue because I had the heater core done a few months ago, and don't remember it happening before that.

Re: (Compass)

I would try running a new constant wire. It sounds like if it is losing memory, that is the problem. You can tap into any wire that constantly has power, just make sure you fuse it near where you tapped into the other wire. You may have a loose connection in your fuse box, and that is why you are losing memory, when you pull the fuse and put it back, it is probably reconnecting.

my car did this, it was a fuse.
the fuse kept blowing every time the wing would come down...it would stop half way.

all i did was lube up my wing, and i disengaged it and played witht he switch. they say this cleans the brushes. after that everything was gold.
