I plan on editing this on a regular basis so I just figured I would reserve this one thread for all updates rather than creating 1000 threads:
Well I picked up the R on Friday from EIP and didn't exactly get to do like I wanted to (video tape a 2 wheel and all wheel dyno then hit the track). I got out to MD way too late to really do anything other than eat burn through some gas and go home. I also didn't get to install my haldex race controller or rods/pistons. I didn't place the order in enough time to get all of this done as these parts needed to be hand built
(100% my fault and no one elses).
Visible you can't tell anything was different and that fine by me. But the performance difference between the Stg 1 and the Stg 2 is unreal. I think I remember posting after the Stg 1 was installed that I got 302 HP to the wheels (or something close to that), but with the Stg 2 (only on the 2 wheel dyno right now) I was at 454 HP and 411 ft/lbs or Torque.
The turbo spools instantly and I hadn't driven the car in 5 weeks (body work and stg 2 install) so I initially had a tough time keeping it in one lane (puss I am not). I also closed the return pipe so all of the noise is coming straight from the exhaust and it sounds amazing. I was told by a few that with the primer gray color and the exhaust sound that it looks/sounds like a jet going by. (Take this as you may, I love the sound, but a jet I doubt).
1st and 2nd gears have ZERO hesitations, I have done a few 4 wheel burnouts and a few saw a display of the power at the mall (sorry security broke it up, but they were cool anyway
). The car will pull from 1st to 6th and still want more gears. I got the car up to 160mph rather easily and it still wanted to go further (on a closed course obviously).
I can either get 24 mpg or 4 mpg what ever I choose
(oh and the big injectors help with that as well). My 1st tank I got 284 miles til almost empty (15.4 gallons but I was on the highway home from 12am - 4am). I had to do a few morning errands before I got home as well so that took time.
I will hit the track before I install the water/methanol injection system which I still need to do as well as the haldex race controller. I am shooting for a Friday night with LuisR to hit up a track, but I guess now you need a fire jacket as well as helmet. I plan on dynoing soon on an All Wheel Dyno soon as well. There will be video's and pics up soon of Dyno's, Race's etc. I just need time (starting a new job and my fun will have to come second).
Please let me know if you have any questions, post then in this thread and I will gladly answer them in this thread so there is no confusion.
Sorry if this isn't informative or your idea of a write up but screw you then and go troll another thread.
