- - - - - PREFACE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You may have seen me post on here before, so I thought I might cut through the BS with an opinion that you may trust a little more than random R32 guy.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
There has indeed been much speculation about the "Green Temp Sensor" and it's validity in upgrading. I have had some experience in running my car hard
and have by no means found my car to run faulty before this change.
SO, my R32 received her first CEL (check engine light) and I dropped her off at dealer and it was found to be "faulty" and replaced.
My car has had days when it's felt marginally faster than others (fast days). I consider myself pretty sensitive in regards to power and handling and can notice subtle changes (like running regular fuel
)
- - - - - RESULTS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Now with regular testing, i have a 10 mile drive to work and a 12 mile drive to the g/f house. The mpg has increased by 2-3 on the to and from trip to each location. Also, every day feels like a "fast day" in the R. As marginal of a change as it was, it makes me feel better to get better mileage and a couple more horses.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - CONCLUSION - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
My car has been consistently adding too much fuel to the mix (less power and worse mileage). Which should mean that the temp sensor was reading cooler than the actual temp.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I'd do it if i were u... but then again that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

==<< UPDATE >>==
So a week has passed now, and things are different and have more results.
A tank of gas now gets me 370 miles instead of the ABSOlute max of 320 miles previously.
Additionally, if any of you have used regular gas in the .:R you'll notice that it takes a while for the ECU to learn once you put the 93 back in again. Why do i say this you ask yourselves? After 500 miles on the new sensor, it feels better across the board, like it's learned the new A/F curve.
So just more motivation for u lazy arses out there
*cough* (change ur own ****e neb!!)
