Re: Is there anyplace I can rent a car to take to the racetrack? (Zanardi)

Reminds of a little story: there is a certain ALMS driver that is blacklisted from every rental car company in the US. It seems he did some wheel-to-wheel racing at Laguna Seca and also had a little jumping incident.
I get a chuckle everytime I see him riding shotgun through the paddock.

ok, now you have to tell us more

You can go to Hertz and rent a Shelby Mustang.

I'd leave out the track part though if I were you.

Weren't these cars reffered to by Hertz as the "Rent-a-Racers"? At lease the original GT-H?

Read the rental agreement. Not only is it not covered by insurance, it's not even legal. The rental agreement specifically prohibits you from engaging in any form of vehicle abuse or taking the car on a racetrack or entering a competitive event (so as to ban autocrossing too). They can hit you for TONS of extra money if they find out you took the car to an autox or driver's school.

Viergang's Rent-A-944 Program is available for certain tracks. Pricing is as follows:
$49 a day for unlimited track abuse*

*Price includes "Special Hilarious Fatality Alignment And Loose Random Bolts Package". Price with standard alignment is $999/day plus tires and brakes.
