Any one ran a B&M short shifter in line with another Short shifter?

I havnt looked into the B&M shifter but it appears that it goes in the cabin.
so has any one used that in connection with lets say a DieselGeek shifter, That changes things at the Tranny.
also can you change out the knob? as I dont like to have metal ones as they either get deathly cold or melting hot.
Thanks...
ALSO
any one been able to install the B&M without having to drop out the shifter Box?
any way to do it from in the cabin?

I run my B&M w/ the TT shifter linkege.
Dramatic from stock and felt like it shifted smoother after I replaced all my engine and tranny mount's
I think options out there are limited as well for knobs from B&M but I'm sure you could imagine a way to custom a one off knob for yourself. After all you did do you bumpers yourself right!?

Nice car BTW-

Yup, running a Neuspeed Short Shift with a B&M shifter.
It's alot shorter, tad be more notchy. But I love it.
The best you can do is change the metal know to thier special anodized black knobs. It feels like rubber and mellow to the touch.
Look at picture to the left.

I did my enitre B&M install from inside my car since I was too lazy to take all the crap off to get to the shifter box.
It is very time consuming but is possoble,
All you need are some patience and 2 long flat head screw drivers, Long set of needle nose pliers, and possibly a magnet extention to fish out things you drop in there.

you have to go from the bottom... nearly impossible not to. the linkage sits below the actual shifter housing, and theres no way around it. i removed the center console when doing the install and it helped open up some space, but not enough to correctly install it.
the over all install wasnt that difficult, just takes a little bit of time. Also, the shifter is held down with two torx bolts, both of which you must be extremely gentle with. I stripped one out and ended up having to buy a new housing.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions

I would not recommend a B&M shifter on a VW. I had one on my Mitsu and loved it, but have heard only bad things about them on VW's. See what happens if the nylon cap wheres down or falls off!
The B&M also was causing grinding going from 2nd to 3rd... a somewhat common problem with the shifter I found after a lot of searching and posting.

Just went back to stock and will do an Audi TT short shifter. I can get it done for $65 at SCI.

ive had my shifter on for 6 months, and if correctly installed, will work fine.
I have not had one missed shift, no grinding, etc etc... just make sure you take the time to adjust and properly align the linkage. Ive heard that when the B&M is run with conjunction with a TT or Neuspeed or Diesel Geek, the linkage aligns better.. i read it a while back, which was what promtped me to actually get the Neuspeed short shifter with the B&M

Re: Any one ran a B&M short shifter in line with another Short shifter? (nothingspecial)

the issue is really within the transmission...the shift fork design is what is slowing you down.....at least the throw is .....and there is nothing you can do to resolve that...short of installing a rally sequential tranny...

No doubt you are probably correct. The damage was all done by the car's previous owner. My griping is just that it seems all too common of an issue. I searched every VW forum I could and got a lot of negative feedback on the B&M's. The grinding from 2nd to 3rd was the big issue and when the car went back to stock it was fine.
