Anyone heard anything good about this... I'm thinking about getting something with a touchscreen and have my ipod hooked up as well... this looks like a good place to start.

not for that price of course, it goes down to about $700
If someone else has a good single or double din hu to look at, let me know.

Re: Alpine IVA-W200 (2.ohh)

is it worth it though, for 800 bucks, thats a lot of loot. How does the screen look with the ipod working on it, i havent seen any pictures, and can you hook it up to drive and play a dvd at the same time?

$800 is cheap for the w200. cost is around $700. it is a ton better than the other units out there that are under $1k. i haven't used an ipod on the w200 since i don't have one yet (w200, not the ipod). to play DVD's while driving, pick up a PAC TR-7. search e-bay for them.

when buying a screen i looked at the alpine... really liked it but didnt like the fact that the nav was an extra $1600.... (i eventually wanted to add the nav)
i looked around and fell in love with the avic-z1 as does everyone else.. but couldnt afford $2000 for a screen setup...
did a little more shopping and i stumbled upon the kenwood ddx-6019... never a big fan of kenwood in the past but this screen is unbelieveable... the ipod hook up takes a little getting used to but is manageable... the optional nav is pretty good and reliable and the sound quality on stock mkv speakers is impressive... perfect HU for all my needs and enough to power my beautiful alpine amp and roarin boston SPG....
and the color match on the buttons is PERFECT.. right down to the little red triangle power light... and all in all with the ipod and nav it cost me about $1400
kenwood ddx 6019 FTW!!!

while the blackbird isn't as powerful as the stand alone nav system, it is reasonably priced and you can move it to a different car for trips and things like that

alright well the blackbird is kind of a cool thing, i was told its a little harder to use than the regular nav, but just like anything once your used to it its fine however the blackbird is about $800-$900 right? then the docking station just to get it to connect to the screen is another $200... so that brings you right up to the $1000-$1100 range...

$500 from crutchfield:

plus $200 for the dock puts it at $700 for a removable nav system. the top of the line nav system is sweet, but at $1700, it'll cost more than the deck

Re: (2.ohh)

Yeah, the Blackbird and docking station is good enough for most users. Plus when I need to take the wife's TDi somewhere, it's to easily removable. It was either that or the Kenwood setup. I've used Kenwood almost religiously in the past, and I haven't had any regrets going with the Alpine.
