Re: fog lights on a canadian C (kcbmxer)

For the foglights, you need to either cut into the bumper rebar to make space for the back of the foglight, or buy a "rest of the world" spec rebar that already has the right amount of space. It's plug and play to change the rebar.
Yes, you can make the headlight switch work. Cut out the "L" shaped piece of plastic on the back of the US-spec switch (I presume we are talking about a '95C) so you can plug it into the wiring harness, and remove the solid yellow wire from the wiring harness for the headlight switch (which cancels the DRL's).

Ya I added the fogs.
You just need to cut a little hole in the rebar and they will slip right in.
You will also need a fog light switch and the wiring harness from the switch to the fuse box. The other wiring is already there ironicaly.
Good Luck

Now before CageyBee jumps in and corrects you (like he does to me *every* time I respond to a post on Canadian fogs

), let me do it.... you also need to have a fog light relay. Otherwise, his post is corect. Oh... and you should have little or no problem finding a US spec support bar (re-bar as the others are callinig it) if you don't have the tools to cut the hole in the Canadian spec piece...

Actually I didn't use a relay I just jumpered the pins in the fuse box. The relay is actually used to turn the fogs off when the hi beams are on, kinda a useless feature in my mind and I saved money not buying the relay.

Re: fog lights on a canadian C (CorradoCam)

oh cam you bugger!
do tell! where is the relay located on the fusebox, and which pin, and what do you use to jumper them? (gauge wire, etc) i'm deeply intrigued here
Image

as for the switch and harness, i still haven't found out where the interior harness plugs into. well, i haven't really looked much, but it would be nice to have some pointers

so thompson, turns out that pesky relay was useless anyway.. c'est la vie

Re: fog lights on a canadian C (CageyBee)

It's the number 10 relay on the fuse panel. I can't remeber what two pins to jumper together though, take a look at the bently.
I made the jumper out of a old relay which I pulled apart and then soldered the two pins together. You could also just use some wire but I am a prefectionist(only when it comes to MY car though)
The wiring harness plugs into one of the connectors on the fuse box. It replaces the one that goes to the rear window defrost switch, as the US/Euro harness has the connections for both the fog light switch and the rear window defrost switch.
Don't know what the deal is with the no fog and high beams thing is but it sound stupid to me.

First - the harness hooks up to the rear defroster switch (over on the right side of the steering wheel)... just follow that down to the fuse block... unplug that harness and plug in the US spec harness into the same location... it'll have all the same connectors, plus the one for the fog light switch...
Second - the relay also turns off your foglights when you turn off your headlights... not 100% sure on how it works with the Canadian headlight switch, but with the US headlight switch setup (no dtrl -which I converted to as well), if you don't have the headlight switch turned on so that your parking lights are on, then the fogs don't come on either. It may be that with the Canadian dtrl's, there is always power to the relay.. It's just nice to not need to switch off a second set of lights...
And CB - remind me to kick you in the shin the next time I see you... for all the crap you've given me over that little relay....
