drop a line if I was seeing a mirage

(Rich) people bring in things from Europe for temporary use sometimes - I guess they do 6 months there, 6 months here

. Here in my little town I've seen a 911 with German plates and a Grand Cherokee with Swiss plates. I've seen both vehicles up close several times... no local plates, they're euro vehicles.
The Cherokee even has Swiss window stickers but not cool ones... these are like those "resident" stickers for garbage dump access.

Not necessarily rich, could be military (in the instance of the Jeep).

I've seen a black A3 lurking around DC/Bethesda a few times. Hot little car that A3...
Oh, it had diplomat plates too.

Ours are shaped much like the American ones (unfortunately) with the exception of, I believe, the Northwest Territories (part of Canada) which are about the same size, but cut out in the shape of a bear.
It would be very sweet to have European style tags here...

What also sucks is that a lot of cars look good without the front plates. I know that some states don't require front plates, but here in Ontario we need both front and rear plates.

Yea...one time i saw a Passat Wagon with a "TDI" in the back with all euro bumpers with a euro plate in the back. Plus it was this really weird red color (almost orange looking). I knew that they did not modify it cause this dude was like 65 years old and with his wife. Not saying that there aren't any of those kinda people out there but you know what i mean.

Yeah, there's plenty of cases like that... That one guy on here with a VR6 badged "turbo" and "4motion" is just one example. Last month I went to the driving range and I parked next to this guy with a 318 badged "Kompressor." Our conversation went something like this:
Me: "Wow! You supercharged that thing?!? How quick is it?"
Him: "Huh?"
Me: "Didn't you put a supercharger in there?"
Him: "What would make you think that?"
Me: "It says Kompressor..."
Him: "So? What does that have to do with a supercharger?"
Me: "Never mind."

They could at least know what the badge means even if they don't have a charger.

Good point... I guess they can arrange pretty cheap (free?) transport.

Yeah, Military personnel can buy cars if they are stationed over sees and then ship them over here when they return. There is someone in the Mark IV forum that did this.
