Just removed factory Avus...OMG

I just removed my OEM wheels for the first time today and they were absolutely caked in brake dust and dirt. I jsu used some Meguiars car wash and a firm brush and some good old fashion elbow grease http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
They came out pretty clean, I have had the car a year now and thought I better give her some serious love.
I guess I just sharin' for anyone who cares...

Yeah, maybe I should have been clear about that

I know what you mean exactly. After I got new rims, I cleaned my Avus's before putting them away and it took a lot more effort than I thought it would. I used some rags and wheel cleaner and I think my fingerprints were gone after that. That brake dust was really caked on there.

That's why I love my Monte's. I can reach my hand right in and clean the whole inside. If the wheel was any larger I might be able to replace the brake pads without removing the wheel

A properly maintained car would have the wheels removed at least every quarter and the inside of the wheels/tires cleaned. Otherwise the finish on the wheel will get pitted and stained.

it's better than cleaning a bunch of tire shavings from the inner wheel cause the lip was kissin the sprin perch...

It's always horrible to see VWs driving around that are all shiny, but with nearly black wheels. It amazes me that people will go to the effort of washing their car every week, but never clean their wheels.

I clean my wheels all the time, it is just that around here the weather has not been good enough to the time. We just got 7 in. on rain in the last 2 days and before we had weeks on crap weather. And before that I had a badly broken arm...you try scrubbing a wheel with 3 in pins sticking out on your arm
