Hey, I'm new here. I have a 1990 Golf GL. I recently took the engine out for a new header. After I got it all back together and running, the cooling fan is on once i turn the key on... That if my first question. My second question is I had to take my intake back off, while the engine was back in the car to replace my header gasket. After I put the intake back on, the car doesn't like to Idle. It misses, and varies from 500-2500RPMs. But off of an idle, it runs great. Is thire a simple fix to this?? I have checked vacuum hoses. I don't have any leaks, but i may have put them back on wrong? I allmost forgot, it is a Digifant II system i beleve.

When you turn the key on, is the heater control on 'defrost' mode?
That will make your fan run as soon as you turn the car on...

Well, I was going to change it in the car, but a stud decided it wasn't coming out easy. And broke off in the head. I took the whole engine out of the car. I don't know what the heater defrost mode is...

that sucks...the heater defrost 'mode' is all the way to the right on the hvac controls, underneith the stereo...

If the car has A/C there is a relay/circuit thing on the heater box assambly under the passenger side dash that could be bad. I had the same thing happen to me.

The car had an A/C. When i bought it all the compressor lines were cut. I took the compressor off. So then could I just take the relay out??

My A/C didn't work but I changed it anyway! I don't remember what it cost but it wasn't that much. Also you fan switch in your radiator could be screwey or wired wrong.

hey guys, do you think my idle problem could be a bad O2 cencor? Or maby when i put the engine back in could I have plugged something in to the wrong thing?
