Re: (Fields_Dubbin)

"insurance ain't cheap"????? this is my first snowmobile and it's a 2002 MXZ800 and i pay $180.00 a YEAR for insurance for something that has 130hp, no seatbelts and weighs about as much as the 1970's sofabed in your parent's basement. if i can get insured to go 200km/h across a lake whenever i want for $180.00 a year....that's a f*cking steal!

Re: Any sledders in Ontario? (cdn20VALVE)

put 80km on last night. took B202 from Erin past Belwood Lake to Fergus. Trail is a bit slick but definitely enough snow. i went 80km but i'm sure the odometer will show about 380km from pure spinning. time for a new track i'm afraid. where is everyone? i only saw 6 sleds?

Re: Any sledders in Ontario? (kingofboggle)

I sled. I just don't own one. I do, however, have a rich friend who has 6 sleds (all 2002 and newer) who doesn't care if I burn his gas...
This is what I ride when I go out:

Re: Any sledders in Ontario? (sc_Jetta)

does any one have a link to the laws of what you need to legally drive the snowmobile on roads and such?
Its an old yamaha, and now that I have a pile of snow, ive decided not to sell it. Sure cash in hand would be handy, but given how little invested i have, Its been alot of fun, even if only a couple days s year.

1 super enthusiast here, its what i think about all winter while the VW has snow tires on it and its covered in road salt http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif Sledding is the only thing that keeps me from hibernation in the winter, too bad this year has sucked to the max. Heres me last year pounding some drifts.

Re: Any sledders in Ontario? (MKII Golfman)

I'll be going this weekend. Finally.
I've got everything squared. Sled is running great. I've got insurance, sticker, everything except for a trail pass. My buddy tells me you can buy one on the trail if you get pulle rover? Is this true?

False, you need a pass prior to getting on the trail. If you are caught by OFSC trail wardens or the OPP you'll receive a fine. Get the pass beforehand.
Check out OFSC.com for all rules and regulations and what it takes to Sled Smart!

Re: Any sledders in Ontario? (cstraw)

not totally false. You have the option to buy a pass on the trail if they ding you. If you come across like an idiot and bitch about it they can still charge you with trespassing, but most wardens will just be glad to sell you the pass at the higher rate, $230.

Pfff. Who needs fancy sleds. Sledding has cost me $0 so far and I've had a blast!
With this...

Re: Any sledders in Ontario? (Bugs)

What is that an old Olympic? I guess it could be a TNT or a Nordic too? 335, 340, 399, 440, 640?? I had soooo much fun with the old beaters, seems like I have less fun on the newer sleds.
Bugs, is you Yamaha a 340 ET? If the carb is buggered I suggest taking it to a Yamaha specialist, nobody knows how to deal with the carbs that come on them.
