I searched; didn't *quite* find the answer I think I'm looking for.
91 Jeta 8v, 207k miles. It got a new T-stat last winter when I got it (heatercore had blown and it wouldn't generate any heat)
It ran great over the summer - cold a/c, not overheating.
Once fall got here the MPG dropped and the needle rarely moves out of the white 'cold' zone. It will move to the halfway point if I'm in a lot of stop and go driving.
Do T-stats fail with regularity? Should I just go ahead and change it?
TIA
