Leased! After seeing what the monthly payments would have been with my small amount down, and the fact that the warranty will run out about the same time the lease is up, it was a no brainer. You will be paying for a car one way or the other. You can pay to keep it running, or pay to be driving a nice new car.

own, cause i would rather not rent a car for 3 year, plus have have a good about of mods to the car and that would completly screw me over when i have to turn the car in.

Call your leasing company and ask what the buy-out is and then call your banker to get the loan or write the check

The VW dealer where I get my car serviced said I have to pay $16,000 just to get out of the lease and not even keep the car! I hate leasing and I'll never do it again.

I was also a poor mofo when I got my lease, but I've done so much to the car that I want to change it to a buy. I tried calling the bank and dealer, but they gave me a runaround to ask the other. I know for sure I have to pay $250 early termination fee and $150 early purchase option. Check your lease. Does it have a price for buying it out when the lease terminates? It should. I lease mine through VW Credit and the purchase price is clearly listed Item #8 on a VW Credit lease). You shouldn't have to pay any end-of-lease charges if you buy it. Terminating a lease is usually not a good idea. Just wait until the end and then buy the sucker. Just my $0.02.

They did mine through Bank of America and it's not very clear cut. Even the VW dealer's lease guy seemed confused. Yeah I was talking about terminating the lease early to change it to a buy since I can't wait. I guess waiting 'til the end of the lease would be the best thing to do. A once proud BUT now very P*ssed off Jetta owner.
Own because I love driving. It would cost mucho more if leased with the mileage restrictions. Plus once I do the mods no way will I give the car back. Correction..... once the car is out of the repair shop it will be HISTORY.

(ok, actually the bank owns her, but hey... only 56 more payments to go...)
why? because leasing sucks you dry, you never actually own anything, watching how many miles you put on it is a PITA, etc, etc, etc...
