ok so which would you take and why....i finally drove an RSX Type-S...i've driven a few Type-R's. the Type-R has great highend, great handle, interior is crap IMHO.....identical to any integra minus the seats and shift knob. the low-end on the type-r is non existent...under 5K RPM the car is a major slug. over-all its a great car...and i enjoyed it....so anyhow......back to the RSX Type-S. a friend of mine had a deposit on a 337, and then he decided he wants a RSX Type-S...i was very upset....but to hell with it, its his money right..so i see the car....Butt ugly IHMO...Integra Type-R has this car by a mile in the styling dept. i take it for a 20min test drive...handling is not to far from the Type-R....the interior is by far better then the ITR's, the 6-speed is a tad better then the itr's 5. but what really impressed me was something i never felt on any 4-cyl honda i've ever driven..and i've driven quite a few from S2k's to Prelude Type-Sh, to civic Si's. This car had nice low-end...not like a VR6....but much better then the Type-R...from 3K RPM the RSX begins to come to life and starts pulling harder and harder as the RPM's climb....in the ITR on the other hand, the engine felt dead under 5K RPM. the Type-R has styling and handle over the type-S, but the Type-S has everything else over the type-r......by the way....the Type-S weighs 100LBS more, has 5Hp more, 15LBS more..a way better powerband...its also mated to a 6-speed. the Type-S felt faster then the Type-R...although its not a fact....i'll know within a couple days...as my friends will go out it for a bit and see who's car is faster.....so in the end......i chose the Type-S as a better car and car of my choice...what do you guys think? OPINONS!!!!...and yah..i flamed the crap out of my friend for buying a Type-S over a 337 grrrrrrrrrrr...they are both wonderfull cars though. now only if Honda put the RSX interior, engine and tranny in the Type-R...that would have been a damn Kick arse ride.

Re: Integra Type-R or RSX Type-S (a2a4raddo)

Type-R. There's no competition ITR is one of the best handling and most entertaining FF I have ever driven.
Type-S is a better daily driver because its more comfortable, interior quality is higher and better features. RSX still handles very well, especially Type-S.
At the end, I would choose ITR. Its not only handle great, this beast will also become modern classic. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Integra Type-R or RSX Type-S (A4Jetta)

the front end of USDM integras is hideous. I would like it on the classic basis, but I vote for the RSX based on looks.

To recap, my vote goes to the GTI 337

Re: Integra Type-R or RSX Type-S (kyokoris)

this depends on what you want out of it.
If you want to putter around town and look sporty, get the RSX.
If you intend to race the car and use it the way it was meant to be, get the ITR.
The RSX cannot compete with the ITR in performance categories. Period.
The Type-R cannot compete with the RSX as a comfortable daily driver. Period.
Easy choice really, just decide what's important to you.
Oh, BTW. You have to learn how to drive the ITR. You can't just hop in and go fast. It takes practice to learn the car and keep it in it's power band, and to understand the handling. Once you do, however, not much can keep up with it, even MUCH more powerful cars (proven time and again at AutoX competitions around the country)

Re: Integra Type-R or RSX Type-S (germanrox)

we have rsx type Fake here in australia, i.e all type R bodykit and interior and suspension but no brembos and no type R engine.
Which basically means it is the same as the Rsx type S in america save for all the showy aesthetics.
I cant say how well it does on the track yet, but I know for a fact that in a straight line the Rsx performance is really disappointing.
At the local drags, just for fun my friend ran a new type R in his integra "gsr" and beat him quite easily.
A few weeks later, I went against a new type R in my civic vti-r hatch and i basically was inching past him in 1st and 2nd gear before it became dead even at 3rd gear.
The new ivtec definitely makes him pull harder from lower down, but by the time my b16a reached vtec, I was pulling him back in lol...
Was quite amused to say the least...
Stick with the Dc2 type R if performance is your main priority.
Just think about buying a good security system first.

Re: Integra Type-R or RSX Type-S (AXIS)

in many driving test DC5R beats DC2R. that is RSX TYPE R with Integra Type R.
but I have a video clip that show DC2R kick DC5r's ass in the track.
i find DC2R a better race car, as for daily drive extra displacement do help.
if you want a daily drive car that is easy to drive and more comfort go for the RSX. which is made for US market.
if you want a crazy stock car that can take to the track out of showroom go for the integra R

Re: Integra Type-R or RSX Type-S (USER)

The other weekend I auto-x'ed my friends 01 Type-R, and while we were there, I drove my other buddies 02 RSX Type-S to lunch.
What I'd like is the Type-S engine in the Type-R chassis
Image
The new engine is way nicer than the B18C5, but even with the 6 speed, the gear ratios in the RSX don't feel as 'good' as the Type-R. Of course this will never happen because the two engines spin in different directions, but hey, whatever.
I wouldn't mind having either one! They're both really nice cars that are plenty fun to drive.

Re: Integra Type-R or RSX Type-S (kyokoris)

quote:

hands down type R.. although it is one gear short..
but the power feels stronger, and the suspension is tighter, and not to metion it comes with LSD http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Gotta love a car that comes with its own LSD!

Even though the insurance and theft visibility is high, I'd take the ITR.

quote:

how can someone go from fine German engineering, the 337....to some japanese car , that everyone has? never understood these things...

do drive an ITR, then go drive a dressed up GTI. then you tell me which one is more fun, and which one is made for real driving.
if unobtrusive trunk hingles, silicon door handles, and blue dashes are your priority then i can understand your pretty uneducated comment, otherwise i think it's time the VW crowd showed respect where respect is due.
that's coming from a current (and regretful) VW owner. the car is great for what it is, but now that i want to race i realize that it's a giant POS compared to other cars that i SHOULD have gotten.

I owned a GTI 1.8t
Mods:
1Bar chip
bilstiens
H&R springs
18*8.5 + 225 rubber (nice tires)
The car was fun. A very nice daily driver.
Then, I went to test drive a Type-R for fun... I bought it that day.
VW GTI/Jetta:
Understeer, Understeer, Understeer
****ty POS friggin garbage transmission
HEAVY!
Drive By Wire?!?!?! WTF!!! can't even trail brake....
HONDA:
Nuetral handling, almost miata like.
the transmission is like butter. Wonderfully geared and mated to the R's powerband was awesome
it's light weight and extremely responsive
If you want a VW that's worth a poop as far as handling/racing goes... get an A2.
Basically the R owned the poop out of the VW in every category. Especially fun
Granted, a lot of ricers get the R because it's an R and they want to be L33t. But when it coems down to it, the R, is a drivers car. That's why I got it in Black.
I can't wait until I get my hatch built.
Everyone has a Type-R? Do me a favor, go onto autotrader and do a search for Jetta or Golf... then do a search for integra... tell me the difference.
Ignorant ******* ruin the scene for each respective group.
I'm 1ateTurbo, and I'm a true enthusiast.
One more thing...
