ALL RIGHT I lied. It's not so little.
She's still around! Just not in moving condition.
She's basically been sitting in my grandparents' driveway since the tranny blew up back in December. Some of you may remember me asking about transmissions soon after... anyway! A 4K, as much as I'd like one, is a little out of my price range right now, so we've got Taylor's (powerhouse) old FF tranny sitting up on an island right now waiting for us to pluck it out of the engine bay. Weather has been holding us back from actually grabbing that sucker and getting the SheRocco up and rollin' again.
The ĂĽber sad part: I went to visit her today - check out the condition of the engine bay, interior, etc... and found stuff growing in her hatch!
FUNGUS apparently LOVES wet carpet.
You read that correctly. FUNGUS. I had MUSHROOMS growing in my poor car (along with mold). I promptly sprayed those biznatches (referring to the fungi) with some Lysol and bought some DampRid and electrical tape to soak up the moisture. The culprit, I believe, is the lack of the little finger lifty dohicky (that's the professional term, thank you very much) I broke off the hatch when I tried opening the hatch when it was locked.
No worries. Rob's got a couple hatches for the SheRocco lined up. For now, I've got some plastic and electrical tape covering up the gaping hole to prevent any more leakage.
I still have plans for the SheRocco! Next on the to-do list:
--Clean out the engine bay (will hopefully happen this Sunday)*
--Clean, paint and generally purdify the engine (will hopefully at least begin this process on Sunday)*
--Re-wire the engine bay (also will hopefully at least get started this Sunday)*
--Build a cupholder (this is gonna be HILARIOUS)*
--Replace floorpans*
--Look into getting new tail lights
--Get my odometer to work*
--Replace the headliner
--Replace the doorpanels (this'll probably be a DIY thing)
--Get some damn SPEAKERS, which requires...*
--Building speaker boxes*
--Replace my sideskirts with new kickboards (which, yes, will mean that my sideskirts will be up for sale eventually)*
--Shave...
----Rear emblems
----Passenger mirror
----Side markers
--Get my lighted heckeblende installed*
--Get a "Germans build it better" license plate frame*
--Replace the carpeting
--Get coils (like it NEEDS to be any lower)
--Look into getting some new fenders
--Get some Euro bumps*
--Look into getting some ĂĽber headlights
--Get the winders tinted
--Get the car walnut blasted and painted
--Lay down some sound deadener
--Do what I can to replace rust with metal in general*
There’s lotsa *little* odds and ends that need to be worked out (like the light in my glove compartment – it puts on a light show for me when I’m driving), but that’s the major stuff. It’s a big project, but luckily I have two other modes of transportation so the SheRocco will stay as a project car. I hope to have the asterisked items done before WaterWagens. I’ll start an actual project thread on Sunday with pictures… if I can remember to bring my camera!
I really should have brought my camera today. Then I could’ve showed you her fungi. lol.
