Re: New GTI!! (judah)

Nice GTI! You don't see many of those in Michigan. My brother who lives in Detroit was considering getting one. None of the dealers he went to had one with a manual transmission, though

BTW, I used to live in Ann Arbor when I was an undergrad.

Re: New GTI!! (GREGSGTI 1.8T)

That's exactly what I'm getting first (suspension)...I like the 1" drop. Looks perfect and like you said the potholes here can't handle much more

I couldn't decide between black and silver. The dealer had a black w/luxury package and silver w/o. I had to have the roof so I got the black.

I mean when I landed today the runway had potholes! WTF LOL
After the suspension no more squat and dive apon acceleration and braking
I knew that was the weakest link of the car everything else is awesome!!

Re: New GTI!! (vogel)

Thanks! There aren't that many here in MI being the motor city and all...lots of Ford, GM & Chrysler...everywhere. Not that that's a bad thing but not my style.
I had a 99' Jetta vr6(auto) and I was hooked. I always loved the GTI's and I had to have a stick so I finally found one...I had to drive 30 miles but I got it

Re: New GTI!! (judah)

No sheet man
back when I lived here people would pelt your car with rocks if it was an import
but I say F ! domestic cars if they suck I'll never buy another Ford
Last cars: '95 Civic
'99 Maxima
'02 GTI
the GTI is buy far the best in overall QUALITY
as long as the windows don't fall etc etc I'll be happy with this car
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have Mine! the couple months I drive pretty spirited and still manage 25 MPG

I know what you mean. My neighbor works for GM(union) and won't even acknowledge me because I drive imports...
There is a Ford plant about a 1/2 mile away from my house and a big sign that says NO IMPORTS ALLOWED ON THE LOT...just shows the mentality...must be jealous

Re: New GTI!! (judah)

Yup - the roads here are such crap - sometimes I wish I had one of those mindlessly boring SUVs so I wouldn't have to swerve around all of the potholes in Detroit! But I'd rather have my GTI than any Ford here - seems like the herd here just drives leased Explorers and throws their cigs out the window, only to have them disappear into my grill!!

BTW, looks great in black - have fun!
