If people don't acknowledge you because you drive and import or a different car than they do, that's just retarted. Drive whatever the hell you want, other people drive whatever they want.. can't they just leave it at that.

Where oh where have y'all been!?!
Beautiful GTI! I'm glad you chose black. And it's true, you don't see very many Golf GTIs in this area... Just lower trimmed Golfs (mostly GLs). Actually, most VWs I see in this area are GL trimlines... Very few 1.8Ts. More Audis than VWs...
If you ever want to sell those Monte Carlos, let me know! I've been wanting some on my Jetta...

And boy do our roads suck like hell. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif You'd think that the Detroit area would have the best roads in the country, being that it's the home of the big three US automakers...

Remember to keep your new ride off I-94 east bound into Detroit... Worst roads I've seen.

well, that makes me one of those GLs. Yeah, rush hour looks more like an autocross with all these FUN holes to dodge. I also fear for my dub in parking lots, with angry housewives in their Excursions taking it out on the little guys. Can't we all just get along?

Dude I was on I-94 going into dearborn I saw a red GTi doing 85 and all I could think of was how I could make a fortune w/ my own shocks and suspension business here

Hey I work in a union telcommunications company and when some union a$$ starts running his mouth about my VW being an import I point out that his Ford has 2/3 of it's parts sourced out to plants out of this country....He usually shuts his mouth then. As long as you are happy with your decission screw what those idiots think.

This area TOTALLY needs a euro tune up shop. I feel like I'll have to drive to Ohio or something to get a good deal on a suspension.

I grew up in Indiana, in an auto factory town. We had union signs there saying "no imports allowed - will be towed". I also got poop for driving them. I think it's about self-interest - people who work in those plants feel threatened by foreign cars. That's a great reply though, about how Ford (and most other companies) source parts elsewhere. I'm not sure if the same people who get angry about foreign cars would actually claim that American cars are better, maybe they would?
