Doesn't German generally invert sentence structure, as in, verb goes last; so it'd be something more like, "Ich JDM hasse." ?
We seem to be translating word for word here, and normally that's not how languages go.
I confess, I had eight years of French, a year of Spanish, but only one semester of German.

No, it does not invert the order, unless you have a sentence that requires such thing to happen. If you use the word dass, for example, verb goes to the end. if you use the weil, which means because, verb goes to the end. a couple other words do that. otherwise, do not mock my german skills.

-Not mocking! Not mocking!
I just remember a "Ge" addition to the verb, and verbs often added to the end.
I acknowledge and honor your German skills.

hehe... the GE addition was for the past tense, the preterite, if that was the name for it. Wait... No, it was a perfect tense, used with the verb haben or sein. I know all this junk cuz i teach spanish now.
That way you could have Ich habe gedacht, or, Ich bin gegangen. Goddamn. I learned something...
