Sorry I don't have any pictures for the story I am about to share but just remember this for next time you check the air filter.
So imagine it's sunday afternoon and you're working in the garage, hopelessly waiting for work to come in because let's face it... it's sunday and you don't want to be there. finally something pulls into the garage. SWEET!!!!, it's a brand new gti. Which made my day by the way. Kid gets out and want two new tires put on. The tires, which weren't that great... I think they were Falken 512's... but anyway, they were a B*TCH to put on and balance. Naturally after the tires were mounted and torqued I took it out for a quick spin. Get back and park it in the parking lot just outside of the entrance. Customer comes back later, pays, exits the door... and no more than 2 minutes later is back inside complaining that he cannot get the shifter to shift into any of the top gears... Reverse, 1st, 3rd, or 5th... So I'm like, f*ck... I'm screwed cuz I drove it last. I go outside and try to "shift" through the gears... nothing up top. So, what the hell, I pop the hood to take a peek around. At this point I'm staring at where the shifter cables and shifter weight is and something looks odd. So I then tell the customer to get inside and try to shift again... AH HA!! The hose clamp from the air box (that resides directly above the shifter weight) fell off and landed directly in between the cables, restricting it to get into gear... So for those of you who going to take the time to actually check your air filter... Don't do what the stealership did and install the clamp incorrectly. That is all... Cheers.
