Re: (catastrophicwizard)

My girlfriend and I play a game everytime we are driving the S... whenever we see a miata - the first one of us to see it screams "MX-5 LOL" at the top of our lungs... then points at the miata. the other person in the car then acknowledges the existence of the slowness and credits the other player with an "MX5" point. At the end of the day we tally points to see who has won for the day. That person then gets to drive the S the next time we go out

Oh yeah.. If someone happens to yell "MX-5 LOL" and then points at a fiero or MG or boxster or del sol or anycar that isn't a miata instead... then that person is docked 2 points for the day. This happens more often than you would think since we are both trying to call miatas before the other one - sometimes at a tenth of a mile or more ;-)
Its good clean fun!
The S2000 costs more and I prefer it even with the cost difference... so you can guess what I would think of the miata if it were as expensive as the S2000...

Re: alright miata fans

Even if an early S2000 costs as much as a [3-5 years newer] Miata, it's still a much more expensive car to operate.

Sorry, I had to...

Don't apologize, your boyfriend has a very nice '96 M-edition.

I am wondering if the price point was the same if you would still prefer a miata (or mx-5) or a similar vintage S2000

What? I love Miatas- but one of the Miata's biggest pros is the affordable price even when just slightly used. The S2000 is a higher performance sports car- no question. But it is also more expensive. So if they were the same price for equally equipped models of the same vintage, mileage and conditions.. why would you pick the Miata? strange question.

this, i believe, is a no brainer. looks: check. performance: check. reliability: check. Sheer driving enjoyment: check. something you would actually like to be seen in in public: check. The winner, by unanimous decision is the amazing S2k. Honda FTW

While I obviously don't condone the use of "FTW" or the way he stated his opinion, what is there not to get?

I enjoy driving a S2000 1000x more than a Miata. I actually don't even enjoy driving a Miata to tell you the truth. I understand people like the Miata and I can respect the cheap purchase price, cheap parts and the ability to beat the crap out of it treating it like a large go-kart.
But just because you think you're Miata is the most fun car on earth, doesn't mean everyone else has to.

Well, that's only part of it.......reliability? When is the Miata unreliable?
Something you want to be seen driving in? I'm pretty sure I know where he's coming from with that one.We all have our insecurities. All I know is the Miata has probably been raced many more times than the S2000,so I don't see anything girly or gay about that.
No,you don't have to agree with me.You can be wrong if you want to be.
